Default GUI not working

Hi..

I had installed RHEL 5 on my acer 4720z laptop , iam not getting the
graphical mode, iam able to work in console mode only.

so please give the solution for this.

Did you install server or workstation? In either case, did you install X, and
your preferred window manager, such as Gnome or KDE?

Default GUI not working

If you're sure you've installed the graphic environment, then, check the runlevel in: /etc/inittab

# The default runlevel is defined here
id:3:initdefault:

If it appears this way, change the "3" for a "5".

Check it...

Default GUI not working

For testing, just login and type "startx". You should either see a GUI
or some diagnostic message that will assist you in figuring out what is
wrong.
