Default Tomcat6 and RHEL

Hi everyone

I think its been more than a year now since tomcat6 has been released but
even in the latest RHEL5.2 or RHEL4.7 its not included.
Am I missing something or is it still waiting to get into rhel releases ?

Tomcat 6 will never be in RHEL 4 or 5. With the exception of a few
desktop apps, software in RHEL is never rebased within a major
version.

In other words, since Tomcat 5 was out when RHEL 5 was created, RHEL
5.infinity will still have Tomcat 5. If you want software versions to
change out from under you, don't run an enterprise-quality distro.

Your best bet is to either a) build it yourself (wheee!); or b) find a
third-party repo that has it. AFIACT, though, even Jpackage doesn't
have it yet.

Actually, Samba was rebased in RHEL4 from 3.0.10 to 3.0.25, which I was
surprised they did, but it needed to be done to properly support Vista
clients connecting to Samba on RHEL4.

The exception that proves the rule.

Chris

Thanks for the answer..

I wanted to keep my app server as purely RHEL as possible, but the app has
to be on tomcat6 and I've been using the source download.

Guess I'll have to wait for that..
