Default Compiz in XGL: how?

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with an ATI x1400 video card. Compiz in
XGL on Feisty was fast, but running natively in Hardy it is very slow.
Both systems are with the fglrx drivers. How can I enable XGL in
Hardy, and run Compiz through that? Thanks in advance.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
