I loaded Kubuntu onto an old Acer Travelmate 230 (think it's an '03 model) via the Alternate CD because the live CD wouldn't load x properly. When I try to boot up I get the screen flashing a few times and then just goes to a blank screen (which I kinda expected). I can Ctrl+Alt+F2 to the shell and login that way BUT I can only see the top left hand 1/4 of the screen. The resolution looks to be okay but the bottom half and right half of the screen isn't displaying anything which means any commands I run I can't see the output (it's hidden in the blank part of the screen). I tried finding out about the video card with lspci but I can't see any of the result. I'm stumped as to what to do but I'd really like to get Kubuntu working on this lappy! -Mal ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 03 Feb 2008 17:25:43 -0500 From: Sam Fielder <srf10130@vtc.vsc.edu> Subject: Re: using amarok with multiple configurations? FWIW: 1. There is no mention of anything like this on the amarok man page, although I'm not at all clear on what you mean by "configuration". 2. I think that the answer is "not without some tricky database programming". (Basically because amarok regards a track as being different if it's on different devices.) Doc Oh, what I would like to do is start amarok when I am away with a different db. this would get me around the worst part of the problem(the "full"database being overwritten with the info from the sd card when I listen away from home), but would also let me potentially merge the two databases and keep a track of all of my listening history. thanks again sam ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Sun, 03 Feb 2008 17:42:55 -0500 From: Jim <mickeyboa@sbcglobal.net> Subject: Re: USB Network Support? Please help, I do not want to operate Windows any more Ubuntu is only going to connect to the 2wire with a cat5-6/RJ45 ethernet cable, if your trying to connect ubuntu with usb, It won't work. Am I understanding that your trying to connect Ubuntu through a USB ? If your dual booting XP/Ubuntu , use the ethernet cat 5 cable off of the 2Wire for both operating systems, it will work. ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2008 15:24:47 -0800 From: Prasad <p4cldba@gmail.com> Subject: Configure Veoh in Gutsy To: ubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com, "Kubuntu Help and User Discussions" <kubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com> Message-ID: <666b99c70802031524v36faabf8xf894e41545a1bb9e@mail .gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Appreciate any help on how to configure Veoh in Gutsy . thanks in advance -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... This way you should be able to scroll through the lspci output.
