I don't think following the How -to is going to help. I assume the
driver is installed and that's what the How-to is for, to show you how
to install the driver. I think you said the pad lights up so that means
there is some communications between the pad and the driver.
I know you said that you couldn't access the mailing list. Did you try
looking at the archives from the mailing list? Just do a Google search
to find the archives. Maybe there is some help there for you.

I'm interested in a Linux compatible scanner and a tablet.
I won an iPad2, which might be usable as a tablet too, unfortunately I
can't get Wifi working and a pen for the iPad might be expensive.
What wacom tablet is working good, when using GIMP?

Hi all,
I use at home the smaller Wacom Tablet and it works perfect under Ubuntu.
The only thing that is bugged is when I use it in split-screens, only one half is accessible.
That said, it was under earlier Ubuntu distro, I think it was Lucid 10.04.
I think that every Wacom tablet shold do the job since the driver is well support under Ubuntu. For Gimp, the Wacom acts as a mouse and the command buttons are configurable. It also works like a charm and are really good to use for drawing.
