jaunty focus problems after last updates

Anyone else have focus problems with kde. When I open a new window (ie
Alt-F2) it opens beneath the current window instead of above. I'm using
kde desktop effects. It happens with every popup. Also, kwin is now
using 80% cpu, much higher than before. Any ideas?
