You do not need to reinstall Linux for any porpose and surely not for a printer driver. This "reinstall cures it all" habit comes from the darkest days of windows. Which driver did you install for your brother 130 and which one do you want to install now? When you try to install your driver, what happens? The idiots on the phone told you that because there is a very popular operating system in use where all problem-solving is reduced to "reinstall". That OS is _not_ Debian-based :) -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-*-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת ا-ب-ت-ث-ج-*-خ-د-ذ-ر-ز-س-ش-ص-ض-ط-ظ-ع-غ-ف-ق-ك-ل-م-ن-ه*-و-ي А-Б-В-Г-Д-Е-Ё-Ж-З-И-Й-К-Л-М-Н-О-П-*-С-Т-У-Ф-Х-Ц-Ч-Ш-Щ-Ъ-Ы-Ь-*-Ю-Я а-б-в-г-д-е-ё-ж-з-и-й-к-л-м-н-о-п-р-с-т-у-ф-х-ц-ч-ш-щ-ъ-ы-ь-э-ю-я ä-ö-ü-ß-Ä-Ö-Ü -- kubuntu-users mailing list kubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-users |

THEN after this, you can reinstall. And after reboot on the fresh install, you just log-in, and restore the saved user cd / ; tar xvzf /myusbkey/myuser.tgz You now have the restored user data you had, but you loosed all the system-config that were there. -- Martin Laberge mlsoft@videotron.ca Tel:(418)521-6823 30 Years of Unix Admin, and still learning... -- kubuntu-users mailing list kubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-users |

(http/ftp/ssh/nfs/.../firewalls/.../) No script exist at this date, as I know it, who could do this. I am currently working at a system script, who would snapshot a working system, with configurations, and reimplement it totally, after a fresh reinstall. But the situations of a perfectly working system in Linux, are so diverses, and so differents, that it will allways stand on a comprehensive study and understanding of a system to be able to replicate it. (i.e.: you will have to use your brain, and work hard.) We can simplify it with scripts, but you have to understand what you do. -- Martin Laberge mlsoft@videotron.ca Tel:(418)521-6823 30 Years of Unix Admin, and still learning... -- kubuntu-users mailing list kubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-users |
