Hi there,
I have a Quickcam deluxe, as seen here:
http://www.digitaltechnews.com/news/2007/03/logitech_quickc.html
It works perfectly on kubuntu intrepid with no problems, right out of
the box, just plug and play.

I have a Logitech Quickcam Communicate Deluxe, which functions but not
perfectly (I get some jitter using it with Skype on Linux, but it works
perfectly under Windows). Try this page to find other candidates:

I have a QuickCam Pro 9000 on my Kubuntu Hardy machine. Works fine with Skype.

Brian: That sounds good, if no extra config was necessary for skype.
It is now on my shopping list

Mine works fine with 'motion' and other programs, but is weird with Skype.
For a while I couldn't get it to work at all (it produced a black picture),
then, all of a sudden it worked fine. I don't remember doing anything to
cause this. A few days ago, it suddenly stopped working with Skype and
went back to black mode. Skype turns it on all right, but something is
setting some parameter very badly. When it works the picture is very
nice, and the low light sensitivity is quite good. Even when the picture
is black the microphone is active with Skype.
