I don't understand; if I cancel AT&T, I am no longer connected to the
internet. The only Google DSL service is a joke service through your toilet.
That isn't real. Is there another Google DSL service.
I pay $15 per month for DSL service with AT&T. That is all I can afford. All
the other services for that price, have bundled services requirements. I
can't afford the other bundled services.

What internet service provider provides DSL service for less than $15 per
month?

Actually this has gone off topic a bit; I don't know how that happened.
I have a Gmail account. What I want is a cheaper ISP. They recently upped
the price by $10 a month; they were willing to return to the old price,
however only supply 1/2 the service. Formerly I was able to transfer data at
160kbs, now it is only 80kbs, and I pay the same price as last month.
All the companies that I have found that offer as cheap or a cheaper price
have other services bundled, like telephone and movies. I just can't afford
spending more money. I live on a very low fixed retirement income. The
result of AT&T's price increase is 1/2 the service for the same price. In my
thinking that is a 100% increase in price. Pretty unfair for my situation.
Same with food. My monthly budget is about $160, and food prices have risen
30% in the last few months, so I have had to change my diet to foods that are
not as healthy. Fortunately everyone else usually does not have to take this
loss; they simply raise their prices for their services or products and pass
it on to people like me. But I don't get the raises, and I cannot work
anymore.

If I understand correctly; Steven, Valter did not recommend switching DSL
providers, only mail providers.
Steven, you can use any free mail provider you want it does not have to be
AT&T. Although you will still get your Internet through AT&T you do not have
to use their mail service. You can use Yahoo's free service, but they make you
pay to download your messages into a mail client such as Kontact. Or you can
use Gmail's free service (at least I think it's free) or you could use the
free MSN mail service, and so on and so forth.
There's plenty of free mailbox providers, with no need to switch your DSL
services.

We have not had any meat of any kind or dairy in our house now since Clinton
moved into the white house. Couldn't afford it any longer. However, we
noticed a drastic drop in illness! Even my asthma dropped to less than half
the medication needed. Blood pressure medication eliminated completely. No
colds of flu for years now for any of us, ...and we both work with sick
people every day.

Hopefully you don't live in the United States cause we just elected someone
who will raise your taxes nearly 200 percent and perhaps more, wants to tax
social security payouts, tax Medicaid payouts, tax disability payments, add
food taxes, raise fuel taxes and fully eliminate any retirement payouts for
anyone under eighty. Plus your costs go up cause all taxes, penalties, etc
imposed on companies are totally passed directly to their consumers. It
seems people in the US LIKE being in bondage! They elect the worst of the
worst everytime. I pay $9.90 for my inet connection which is a 2.5 meg
connection through Quest but they are not giving me either mail or webpage
space for that, just the connection. I pay an additional $12.95 to my180 for
the rest. You might look into something like that. Of course it might go up
soon at Quest too! AT&T passes their increases along just like any other
company.

No, no, no Steven. You have a Google account, haven't you? So, set up Kmail
with the configuration of Google Mail and go! You will use AT&T to connect to
Internet.
One thing is the Internet connection, one thing are the mail settings!
Mail service, as in the real life, is a service inside the internet: the
postman (a mail server) sends your mail through the Internet (the roads where
the postman walks).
Hope this could help you, meanwhile I wish you all a good holiday season!
Regards

gmail, with only one or two instances, has worked flawless for me, my
spam has dropped a lot, and using their pop service is free. Yahoo,
OTOH, had a pay service for pop and spam out the whazoo. Just my two
cents, Ric
