Default Kaffeine Bug #210303 or #213274

Kubuntu Users:

I want to bring your attention to the above bug numbers on launchpad which
affects ability to play some DVDs and some MS Windows generated video files
in Kaffeine. The issue has to do with XINE trying to install proprietary
codecs which are already installed and as a result generating an endless
loop. The loop is exited when Kaffeine is closed.

The bug is quite annoying for people who are making the switch from MS to
Kubuntu, which results in some very negative first impressions for Kubuntu
and KDE from these new users.

If you have any hacking experience with Kaffeine and Xine please take a look
at this bug in Launchpad. Someone feel free to copy this email to the
developers list.

I got the same bug for the first time last night. It was with a WMV file, but the strange thing is, I've played WMV files before with no problem. A fix would be appreciated.
