Default Keyboard shortcut to open new KDE4 start menu

I quite like KickOff, the new KDE4 start menu, especially the search feature:
typing the name of an application is faster than finding it on a hierarchical
menu. However, I think it could be even faster if there was a keyboard
shortcut to open the menu, so that both opening the menu and typing the app's
name could be done without taking your hands off the keyboard.

Unfortunately, I've searched through the system settings and found no way of
configuring such a keyboard shortcut. Does anyone know how to do it?

So, on top of everything else, Alt F1 doesn't work in KDE 4. I hope that they
are intending to put such functionality back. I had better start looking at
other desktops/windowmakers for future use when KDE 3.x.x is obsolete, in
case they don't. :-(

According to this bugreport it should work:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155347
You may need to set it in your settings though if you had KDE 4.0.x
installed before 4.1

And there is always KRunner which is really great in 4.1. You can
access it with Alt+F2.

Cheers

Well, I think I'll stick to KDE4, as I'm enjoying it a lot, I like the new
plasmoids and the desktop effects. It's not perfect, of course, but it's just
the first release and I hope the bugs will soon be fixed.

Thanks for the info.

Yes, KRunner is great. Still, it would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut for
the menu.
