Our backend libraries are very tied into gstreamer. Telepathy video
uses farstream, farstream uses GStreamer. Using anything other than
GStreamer would involve rewriting so much stuff on the lower levels
that it would be highly impractical.

KTp does however use phonon to read settings such as which webcam to
use etc, trying to integrate where possible.

glib-networking, gsettings etc have glib dependencies not gnome or
even GTK ones. Even Qt depends on glib.
"pure KDE" should relate only to the user experience.

KTp does not use gnome-keyring since 0.2.

FWIW a gstreamer module might actually be draging that in, at least I
remember that we once were looking into gnome-keyring appearing on the
CD and that was because of gstreamer. Just a guess though.

Ah, understood. Thanks for the explanation. It's good to know these kinds of
details.

Yep...looking at KTP 0.3, I see: gstreamer0.10-plugins-good depends on
libsoup-gnome2.4-1, which depends on libgnome-keyring0, which depends on
libgnome-keyring-common.

Yep
https://launchpad.net/~telepathy-kde/+archive/ppa

Yes, more to be done on this

It does support MS Office format, and reputedly better than
Libreoffice, but only for import. Currently I think that's acceptable
because there are standardised formats which are well enough supported
and I think it's up to us free software users to encourage people
towards those standard formats. Not an argument for all I'm sure and
we can vote on it nearer beta time.

I also added kde-config-tablet which was requestd at UDS, needs someone with a wacom tablet to test it though.

How about kamerka instead of kamoso? It's got QML shinyness.

It has buttons that don't look like any part of the KDE desktop we see
anywhere, and no KIPI integration. (from first glance)

-1 from me.

Not sure if it's just me but I get a bit of a mess trying that PPA on precise

*

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

libfarstream-0.1-0 : Conflicts: libgstfarsight0.10-0 but 0.0.29-1ubuntu1 is installed.

open: 64; closed: 367; defer: 41; conflict: 144

*

I attached it as it's a bit on the long side. In order to get Skype running I had to get ia32-libs and ia32-libs-multiarch:i386 installed and all the ones complaining are the 32 bit libs..

*

Félim

*

(If only Skype would cop on a little and get 64bit version.. *sigh*)
