I tend to just use the audiocd:/ URL in Dolphin and copy+paste the
files, you can play with the settings from System Settings ->
Multimedia -> Audio CDs

K3b is so good that a significant number of people who run stock Ubuntu install it as opposed to Brasero. It's that good.
