Default Fwd: Kubuntu Merchandise in the Canonical shop

Hi All,

We need to get some designs done within Canonical's design guidelines,
as per the mail below. Any other feedback would be great also.

Cheers

Jussi

Hi Jussi,

When we first launched a huge range of Kubuntu merchandise on the
Ubuntu shop, we noticed that it was not hugely popular and we were
left with the stock sitting in our warehouse for months on end. We
still have that same Kubuntu merchandise in the sale section on the
Ubuntu shop, meaning it's been around for almost 3 years and still
hasnt sold through.

We like to turn over stock quickly. So we can look at adding some more
Kubuntu merchandise to the shop but it wont be nearly as much as
before - perhaps a few items to begin with. And the initial qty we
would order for each item would be low so potentially the cost prices
of the items will be higher than usual which means the sales price for
this items would be higher that some Ubuntu merchandise as well.

I have a shop sales review meeting next week so I can ask the question
of adding Kubuntu merchandise to the shop and see whether they are
happy to assign the budget to it.

We would most certainly need your designers to send over the designs
and these will be signed off by Marcus Haslam who is our Brand Manager
at Canonical to ensure it meets the brand guidelines.

Have you got items in mind which you would initially like to see? And
are there potentially any designs already available?

Thanks
Cezzaine

I did buy some Kubuntu merchandise a few years ago and would've bought some more recently, but the logo has changed since these were produced and look old now. Which is a possible reason why nothing has been sold for a while.

I do believe the swag did not move particularly good before that
either. Might be largely our fault actually. We never really
advertised it :S
Thoughts on how to change this?

Harald

Perhaps some links to swag on the kubuntu.org page? (some picture links even?)

Having some for sale at UDS? Annoying loco's into advertising it?

More thoughts as they come
