Default Bluedevil 1.2 testing

Howdy.

We are currently trying to squeeze bluedevil 1.2 into oneiric, so if
everyone who owns some bluetooth hardware could please try bluedevil
from the ppa:kubuntu-ppa/experimental [1] and report whether it works
or not, that would be really great.

No bluedevil package in that PPA, testing the one in ppa:kubuntu-ppa/experimental

Argh! Darn you autocomplete...

https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/experimental is the actual
PPA, the PPA URI was correct though.

At least, I can copy files from computer to mobile phone, and from mobile phone, to computer.
In Dolphin, if I enter to the phone icon, I see a new service called "Dial Up Network", anyone know what is it for? if I click it, appears the dialog to choose an application to open that file (like an unknown file in KDE).

By the moment I haven't got any other hardware with bluetooth.

Mmm this is very weird... I will check it tomorrow.

It is to use your bluetooth devices as a modem, so you can use your
bluetooth

device internet from your laptop/pc/bluedevil device.

Copying files to the mobie phone via Dolphin (copy-paste) works pretty well, but trying to use the service "Send file" from the Bluedevil applet, usually fails (it does nothing).
In addiction, could you take a look t o this bug, Alex?

Sorry for late answer...

I have tested BlueDevil 1.1.1-0ubuntu1 that's still in todays Kubuntu
cdimage and 1.2.0~rc2-0ubuntu1 from that kubuntu-ppa/experimental
repository.

No regressions found and new functionality works great!

Testing was done on todays Kubuntu live cdimage + two USB bluetooth
dongles: one Bluetooth 2.0 adapter based on CSR chipset and one
Bluetooth 1.1 (or 1.2) adapter based on ISS chipset.

Tests covered:
- switch 'Discoverable'
- search for bt devices in range - both via 'Add Device'
option in BlueDevil and via Dolphin

- pair device - automatic and manual,
- browse files (obexftp) - selecting paired device from BlueDevil menu and
on discovered devices in Dolphin.

- open photo from phone via obexftp in gwenview
- send file from PC to phone (via BlueDevil menu option and Dolphin)
- pair PC with PNA (navigation device based on Windows CE 5.0) -
unfortunately device is not browseable, so couldn't test anything
more on it

Test 1 - on bluedevil 1.1.1-0ubuntu1 - everything worked properly
Test 2 - after adding kubuntu-ppa/experimental repository, update, apt-get
install bluedevil, stop bluedevil service in system settings, kill rest of
bluedevil processes, restart kdm, start bluedevil
(tested on both already setup configuration from bluedevil 1.1.1-0ubuntu1
and new configuration, too) - no problems found
Test 3 - after reboot and boot from cd again, upgrade to bluedevil
1.2.0~rc2-0ubuntu1 and then start bluedevil for the first time

On test 2 and 3 mobile broadband connection via DUN was tested, too -
everything went flawlessly including setup in Network Manager applet, in
just few clicks (even my mobile ISP was listed and configured
automaticly).

Just a minor problem with DUN on not configured devices - when I click
on found bluetooth device in Dolphin I see: 'Browse files', 'Dial Up
Network', 'Send file'. Both 'Browse files' and 'Send file' work properly
but looks like 'Dial Up Network' service type is not set for that link (I
get 'Open with...' dialog).
And one more thing - when I have rejected (in phone) file sent from PC to
phone, I had still in notification are 'Sending...' message which I had to
stop. Unfortunately I didn't test that on 1.1.1 before.

Besides just those two minor issues everything works great!

I'd like to see BlueDevil 1.2.0 in final Kubuntu 11.10.

Really good job!

Regards,
Tom

I just saw a report in kububtu-users list mentioning this, obexpushd was
mentioned as missing, if I read it correctly.

Although I just noticed his report is from a Natty user.
