Default Kubuntu alpha, holiday edition

Hello all,

Just tried lucid on my netbook. Is it too soon for bugtesting? Here's what I did.
1. Get the latest lucid-server edition:
zsync http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/daily/current/lucid-server-i386.iso.zsync
2. Create a bootable USB stick
3. Install it in an LVM partiton along with karmic (each with it's own swap space)
4. Install kubuntu-desktop, reboot
5. Login to kdm

Then after the KDE splash screen finishes, the screen fades to black and I see this:
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/60AtIFF2jk4FDtKCRWhQHA?authkey=Gv1sRgCJDQkJO5v_WwQ w&feat=directlink
plasma and kded crash together ... I'm attaching the debug traces.
So, now what? I searched in bugs.kde.org and can't seem to find any relevant crashes for 4.4beta.
Should I file 2 separate bug reports to KDE bug tracker? Or should I wait?

Happy new year to everyone!
Yiannis

Hm, this line is empty in my current checkout. What's the KDE version exactly?

Hi,
Sorry, I'm not sure how I can find out the svn revision...
Closest thing to a version is: 4:4.3.85-0ubuntu1 (from dpkg)
Installing the kde-workspace sources(with apt-get source), I could get the
battery.cpp file:
441:
442: connect(notifier, SIGNAL(brightnessChanged(float)),
443: this, SLOT(updateSlider(float)));
444: m_controlsLayout->addItem(m_brightnessSlider, row, 1);
445: row++;
446:
447: m_profileLabel = new Plasma::Label(controls);
448: m_profileLabel->setText(i18n("Power Profile"));
449: // FIXME: 4.5
450: //m_profileLabel->setText(i18n("Power Profile:"));

If there's anything else I could do, please let me know.
Thank's,
Yiannis

I recall a problem in brightness handling where a check for the device was missing in
Solid. This could well be the same crash. Can you check with -rc1 as soon as that's
out, and ping me if the problem persists? (Private email is fine, I usually react
faster that way.)

FYI, just updated Lucid and the crashes are gone! Good
