Have you tried subscribing with the new address? There's no real need to
unsubscribe the old address if it is dumping the mail anyway, although it
would be polite to notify the list admin of this so he can remove it.

Default Is the mailing list working?

Hi again,

I have gotten a few replies off list about this issue and found out that
I am not the only one having this problem. It seems the AT&T family
does not like TLSv1 messages or something. I wrote AT&T a message and
am waiting on a reply regarding this. If someone here knows how to find
out when exactly when they started using TLSv1 it would be great. If
they started on the 22nd, then this is very likely the problem. Also
keep in mind, I have not gotten anything about posts to the forums
either. Anything ending in gentoo.org has stopped. Maybe Gentoo
switched a little to soon for some providers??

Is there a way to reply with a web browser? I can view the messages on
the archives but can not figure out how to reply. I'm trying not to
clutter up the list here. I'm starting a thread here on the forums.
Maybe be easier and all.
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-691543.html Hope to see some email
gurus there. I need some help and so do at least one other person.

Dale

The sending MTA should not be using TLS unless the receiving system
advertises STARTTLS in response to the EHLO from the sending system. So
if AT&T do not support TLS, then they should not be advertising that
capability to incoming mails.

Personally, I just use a gmail account for all my mailing list needs.

I got fed up having to change my subscribed address every so often so
started using my gmail account instead. You always know exactly how
it's going to want authentication, you can read mail in a browser if
you want, or pop it if you want, and best of all:

NO SPAM!

As long as you're subscribed, you can reply via the web interface(s).
Using the blog-like interface, there's a reply link at the bottom of
each post. Using the frames interface, there's a pull-down box near
the top right of each page.

Yeah, now that you can do pop or imap, gmail is pretty convenient. With
respect to spam - I've got 993 messages in my gmail "spam" folder...
which I think is quite a lot, are you not being deluged in this way?

Cheers

Wow, that new and shiny Ajax-Web3.0-Gigabyte-buzzword gmail stuff does
the same as my 20 years old mutt now?

SCNR.

Kind regards,
Frank.

Wow, can you be even more of an ass?* He was pointing out how unlikely it was that gmail was filtering the mailing list as spam; he wasn't whipping out his dick like some elitist asshole ready to gloat about features of his e-mail client.* Not like you.

That said, I've had a problem every now and then where gmail would tag an e-mail from a mailing list as spam, but it's never happened with gentoo-user; just was a wordpress-hackers mailing list e-mail, and only a few.

Very occasionally, posts from Linux Enthusiasts Association Durban
(LEAD) and Gauteng Linux User Group (GLUG) are tagged by gmail as spam.
The biggie though is wine-user, when I was still subscribed I'd find
about 2 or 3 posts a week tagged as spam. I never found anything in
those posts that could be interpreted as spam. Maybe it's something in
the headers, GLUG's headers are ... em ... unusual.

gentoo-user always gets through 100% for me though.

That's got to be one of the most eye-watering mixed metaphors ever.
