Default Kernel 3.5 and nvidia

nvidia-drivers-302.17 are masked and older won't compile with
gentoo-sources-3.5.0

Do I miss something or is it correct that I won't be able to use
nvidia-drivers with kernel 3.5 right now?

I'm using 302.17 now with 3.5.0 and have no problems with it. The
bug has something to do with screen blanking but it WFM.

Try unmasking 302.17 and see if it works for you.

Right now I managed to get "nvidia module not found" for both kernels
3.5.0 and -rc7 ... so I am back on 3.4.5 for now. I want to use my box
and not always fiddle around ;-)

The file gets created, same path for all three versions:

(in /lib/modules/)

./3.4.5-gentoo/video/nvidia.ko
./3.5.0-gentoo/video/nvidia.ko
./3.5.0-rc7/video/nvidia.ko

But modprobe doesn't find it for 3.5.x

I don't know right now, will take care tomorrow.

Thanks, Stefan

I always get that message when /usr/src/linux-> points to the wrong
kernel sources, so nvidia.ko is installed in the wrong /lib/modules/
directory.

checked that

linux -> linux-3.5.0-gentoo

and re-ran "emerge -1 nvidia-drivers" and after that I checked the
updated timestamp of /lib/modules/3.5.0-gentoo/video/nvidia.ko

Make sure sys-apps/kmod is installed.
