Hello Everyone,

Well it's time to upgrade the video card
in a few systems. I love the fanless cards
so I'm sticking with that and ATI brand....


I'm looking at the ATI HD5450. Anyone got
one of these running under gentoo? Got
the 7.1 audio working out of the hdmi port?

Any GPU usage or linux based dev kit info on the GPU
side of the ATI cards is always of interest to me, too.

Any information on this or similar ATI fanless
cards is of keen interest to me.

I have only nvidia graphics because I know their proprietary
drivers work, at least. No idea about ATI yet.

I see here that they don't mention the HD 5400 series at all:

Seems like whenever I buy a product, the manufacturer never mentions
the particular chip-set that I actually got. Maybe it's because I
always buy the cheapest thing I can find

maybe you can try ati-drivers-10.4 see if it works

or you should use radeon

I have this fanless ATI card:

ATI Technologies Inc RV710 [Radeon HD 4350]
It works fine with ATI-drivers (9.11)
xorg-server (1.6.5-r1)


I've been too chicken to upgrade reading the
ATI (X) grumblings of late......

The fanless video cards work OK for gaming (bzflag)
Asus EAH-4350 Silent.
