Many things failed. I could not use scp, or copy form a usbstick
nor a cd. Only downloading via a web browser worked for me.

I had to download both:

e2fsprogs-1.41.2.tar.gz
and e2fsprogs-libs-1.41.2.tar.gz


and put them in /usr/portage/distfiles/

All is under way. Also the thread helped:
