grSecurity warnings about XFree86; Xorg also targeted?
 

Some grSecurity features have a clear warning they break XFree86
(disable privileged IO, for example). Do those warnings apply to
modular Xorg too, as they were not updated for the last three years?

Well Xorg still is XFree86, just named differntly. Just noone deemed it
necessary to change the comment with that regard, as most people know
Xorg == XFree86 ..

So... yes. X needs direct (privileged) access to video hardware (and
hence DRI).

Well Xorg still is XFree86, just named differntly. Just noone deemed it
necessary to change the comment with that regard, as most people know
Xorg == XFree86 ..

modular x.org fixes only the text relocation problem, the rest
is still there for now (iirc, there's some work in x.org going
on that will eventually put all direct hw manipulation back into
the kernel).
