May be faster, but a whole lot more of a PITA to maintain (not
commenting on the patch, though)



Yes, it is a PITA to maintain compared to NFS root. But it is the
preferred default at upstream LTSP now because it allows some (painfully
slow) clients to boot a minute or more faster.
