Hi all,
I am running amarok 2.3.1 on kde 4.4.4 and have been having various problems
over the last 3/4 months.
Amarok stopped working after some world updates and the only way I could get it
to run was to delete the amarok folder in .kde4 and then restart amarok. This
works but of course I have lost all of the history, album covers, scores etc.
but at least I can listen to my music again. However, on startup I get the
splash screen immediately but the main screen takes 1min 14 secs to appear.
Any ideas?
Paul

Well, for me it took around 7 minutes. But that has been fixed in 2.3.1,
it's about 40 seconds now. I cannot tell exactly, because after my
migration from 32 to 64 bit I have to import the MySQL database first, so
maybe it would take longer here, too.
Try runing it as 'amaork -d' on the command line and check the debug
output. In my case, Amarok was accessing all sound files being referenced
in playlists, and I had lots of them.

I can't recall any trouble updating amarok since the 1.90 days up to
2.3.1-r1 (and 9999 and back). There is however an open bug[1] by a user
about the update to 2.3.1.

In the mentioned bug, the user reported he had only to remove the
following 3 lines from ~/.kde4/share/config/amarokrc to get amarok
working again.

If you or anyone else has any more info to share, please add it to the
bug report.
