Default sys-apps/net-tools-1.60_p20120127084908 build fail on prefix

Brent,

I got similar issues a while back, here is something you could try
before emerging net-tools:

Thanks Nicolas, emerging linux-headers first fixed it.

BTW, if you feel like testing our gentoo-prefix-bootstrap scripts,
don't hesitate ;-)

git clone git://github.com/npinto/gentoo-prefix-bootstrap.git
cd gentoo-prefix-bootstrap
make

(top posting to avoid confusion)

Hello,

The proper place to document and work on build failures is with
bugs.gentoo.org. If a package is missing a dependancy then we can
forward it to the proper dev.
https://bugs.gentoo.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Gentoo%2FAlt (select
'Prefix Support')

Thanks,
Jeremy

Default sys-apps/net-tools-1.60_p20120127084908 build fail on prefix

I saw this problem on an old Fedora last week, but I haven't gotten around to follow up on it. Here's a works-for-me patch for net-tools-1.60_p20111120203157 and net-tools-1.60_p20120127084908.

See http://forum.soft32.com/linux/headers-linux-atm-userspace-build-broken-recent-change-__be1-ftopict338634.html, and http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=433962

I guess this is fixed in more recent kernel headers?

Hate to be a broken record, but bugs DO get fixed...ya know.
Workarounds in random side projects are, well...not helpful to
everyone.

I also have some scripts that he could try. There are currently two
versions:

http://www.cs.stonybrook.edu/~ryao/prefix-install.sh
http://www.cs.stonybrook.edu/~ryao/prefix-install-latest.sh

The former uses the current snapshot while the the latter uses
latest_tree. There are some bugs in the prefix tree that keep them from
running to completion on all systems, although I know prefix-install.sh
will run to completion on Mac OS X 10.6 and both scripts should run to
completion on Linux. The latter is necessary for Mac OS X 10.7 and also
linux-ppc64.

Documentation is in some comments at the top of the scripts.
