Default vmlinuz- freezes during boot

This has been reported to Bugzilla, 448461. I'd be curious to know if
anyone has seen anything similar.

During boot (not a "quiet" boot, of course, after "serio: ...IRQ"
output, the boot process appears to stop. On entering CR it continues
to "Input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard ...". Another CR and it
continues to "Input: Synaptics PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad ..." whereupon
it hangs. No response to CD or banging on the touchpad.

The report says that it hapens in vmlinuz-2.6.25-14.fc9.i686 as well,
but I'm no longer sure of that. Here's what lshw says (full listing
available, if anyone cares.)

description: Notebook
product: Z84F
vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC.
version: 1.0
serial: NB-1234567890
width: 32 bits
capabilities: smbios-2.4 dmi-2.4 smp-1.4 smp
configuration: boot=normal chassis=notebook cpus=2
