Lockups with F17 kernel 3.5.0-2 on Lenovo ThinkPad T61P
Getting fairly frequent (couple of times a day) lock ups with the latest
F17 kernel on my ThinkPad T61P. Couple of times, it was when clicking a
link in a Thunderbird e-mail; others, the machine was idle, still
others, on putting the machine to sleep.
No such lockups with 3.4.6-2.
Not quite sure how to characterize this specifically enough to file a
bug report. Anyone else seeing this?

Which browser (I use FireFox)? Do you see this on both the 3.4 and 3.5
kernels? (As I said, I have no problems with the 3.4 kernel.)

Note that he said he "views it as...". So it's not about what causes
the lockup, just how he copes with it... (And anyway, I'm pretty sure
that excessive RAM usage of a process in user space shouldn't cause
lockup.)

My preference - for no real reaon - is Chrome, and I usually have 5-10 tabs open.*

Do you have anything in the logs? Nobody can tell what's the cause
without some more information.
I do not have a TP at all, but no problems here (kernel 3.5.1-rc1 and
3.5.0, vanilla, with some ACPI-patches and own cpufreq stuff).
Btw: m-sysrq could help you in case of lockups.

Lockups with F17 kernel 3.5.0-2 on Lenovo ThinkPad T61P
HI Tim,
I had similar problems with the latest 3.5.0.2 kernel, where it
produced strange errors. Like frozen cursor in Firefox, and no normal
idle, or sleep resume function. The reason is simply - but I couldn't
believe that for my eyes. Check dmesg in terminal. At boot the kernel
disabled one of the two processor cores, as it's noted with [bad
firmware] and lagged my trackpad heavily (the logfile is bloated with
errors.) So I have switched back to 3.4.6.2 where everything is
alright. I have an HP Probook 4515s.

You want to file a bug for that, because eventually 3.4.6 will
disappear (e.g. when your current Fedora goes EOL) and by then you'd
hope to have this fixed. Potentially this is APIC related, you might
want to have a look at your BIOS options.

Lockups with F17 kernel 3.5.0-2 on Lenovo ThinkPad T61P
Hi Ian,
I have tried everything with that kernel, even the BIOS reset is
resulted the same series of bugs. That's why I have returned to the
old kernel.
