Default E-mail image problem - Correction

This is an f-16/64 computer with Thunderbird 12.0.1 which I believe is
up to date. I don't get e-mail messages with photos in them
everyday, sometimes not for weeks, but recently when I do they not
only fail but all I see is a listing in the messages with perhaps a
meg for the size and nothing else, just a blank message devoid of
text and the usual items that allow me to write a response.

When I go into the Thunderbird Mail file and look at the raw message
it appears the message cuts off after a few lines of the image file.
An example, I've trimmed the beginning but left everything else to
the end.:

To: <bobgoodwin@wildblue.net>
Content-type: multipart/mixed; boundary=_Mixed742414633Boundary_

--_Mixed742414633Boundary_
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

Here Bob,

I'm sending this right from my phone. See if this works.

He says he sent that from his phone but he tried from his computer
earlier and just over the last few days I've had several episodes
like that from several correspondents, all running some version of
Windows.

Any thoughts on what is wrong?

Bob

You say the other side is running various versions of windows.... Have you seen or
have you gotten any emails with images from non-windows users?

Also, are you running your own mail server....or is your server on your ISP?

Not since this problem became manifest, only Windows, I can get
someone to send an image from a Mac as a test. Probably later
tonight or tomorrow.

Just the ISP's server, actually it's "pop.gmail.com" although the
mail address is wildblue.net, they no longer have their own servers.

Would it be acceptable for someone from this list to send you an image file?

OK..... So, you use POP in T-bird to get your email as opposed to using fetchmail or
bring the mail to a local store....

Do you have it configured for keeping emails on gmail? If so, what happens if you
use their web GUI to check your emails?

Here's something sent from F16 and Thunderbird. Let me know if there
are any problems with it.

I just did, keeping it small and tasteful.

Well.... There are 2 problems...

1. You've ignored the list guidelines about attachments.
2 You've ignored the list guidelines about html.

There was a reason I asked Bob if he would accept image emails from list members.
The reason being it could be done as private emails and not expose everyone on the
list to "testing" emails of the sort.

I thought I'd sent it to Ed only, not to the list. If not, it was an
accident.

Here's something sent from F16 and Thunderbird.* Let me know if
there are any problems with it.

Just to confirm, I can see the gif of Betty Boop. I also use
Thunderbird and "pop" my GMail, (along with AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail
which is IMAP-ped) and I have no problems getting images or
attachments with images in them.....could it be something configured
improperly on your PC?

If you thought you sent it to "Ed" only then you had 2 accidents. You should have
sent it to "Bob" only since he is the one with the problem. :-)
