Any thoughts on what is wrong?

You say the other side is running various versions of windows.... Have you seen or
have you gotten any emails with images from non-windows users?

Not since this problem became manifest, only Windows, I can get
someone to send an image from a Mac as a test. Probably later
tonight or tomorrow.

Would it be acceptable for someone from this list to send you an image file?

Anything to help define the cause. I do keep it set not to download
messages larger than 350 kb, which means I have to click to download
the image files in question but that has never been a problem in the
past.

Also, are you running your own mail server....or is your server on your ISP?

Just the ISP's server, actually it's "pop.gmail.com" although the
mail address is wildblue.net, they no longer have their own servers.

OK..... So, you use POP in T-bird to get your email as opposed to using fetchmail or
bring the mail to a local store....

Correct.

Do you have it configured for keeping emails on gmail? If so, what happens if you
use their web GUI to check your emails?

I had to look, but yes it is set to leave messages on their server,
I don't usually do that but I've been testing another computer F-17,
and that must have seemed like a good idea at the time? Easy enough
to change if you think it might cause trouble but again this is all
stuff I've done in the past without running into problems.

If you thought you sent it to "Ed" only then you had 2 accidents. You should have
sent it to "Bob" only since he is the one with the problem. :-)

Wow......Joe! You're like batting a thousand right about now
huh?....LoL! It's all good,....at least you haven't spammed an email

As I wrote before, that wasn't intended for the list. However, I did
try to keep it both small and G rated, simply because I don't know the
OP's tastes.

FWIW, I don't use POP I use IMAP. However, some of my friends use POP and they
always keep their message on gmail as a "backup". So, I would not advise changing
that setting and don't think it has any effect on your problem.

Was just bustin' your chops is all.....all in good fun.....nothing
serious....I actually had a crush on Betty Boop when I was in the 2nd
grade!.....LoL! In regards to the image issue I've never really
experienced it before, I do know one guy who was having problems with
pics / attachments/ / images and he checked his "Account Settings' in
Google.....it was something he did there, but this could be
different.....just thought I'd offer what help I could...

If so, you might be interested to know that the woman who did her voice
also did Olive Oyle, and that Olive's voice was based on Zasu Pitts.

Ok, I have the same problem with the image file received in
Thunderbird but if I go to the gmail web mail page I can view the
image file, a garden scene.

I had to jump through hoops to get to my gmail account, apparently
they've changed their security routine and I had to type those dizzy
letters and register again. I know I looked there when this problem
first began and did not have to go through that.

I think I will try some further tests sending images to myself as
you suggested.

Thanks for the help.

Bob

FWIW, I just set up a POP gmail account....using defaults....on my F16 system running
the same version of TB as you. I sent that account the same image file I sent you
offline. It arrived back at my TB just fine.

Do you have any extensions to TB or filters which may be influencing downloads?

Check your settings in Thunderbird; if that doesn't help, go to
Thunderbird support at https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/home
and ask there.
