Default F16 upgrade, Gnome fails with Oh no! Something went wrong

I've upgraded from Fedora 15 to 16 (x86_64). Now when I attempt to
login using the Gnome shell, it brings up a small window with a
message "Oh no! Something went wrong", and after a few seconds returns
to the login screen. I can login fine using the Xfce or WindowMaker
sessions.

I then attempted to just clear out my user's gnome configuration, by

cd $HOME
mkdir old
mv .gnome* .gconf* old/

then attempted to login again. It re-created the .gnome2 directory and
such, but I still get the Oh no! error.

I was using Gnome just fine under Fedora 15 prior to the upgrade. Does
anybody know of a resolution to this problem -- or where I can find
any log files or more information about what went wrong that I can
look at?

Thanks

Default F16 upgrade, Gnome fails with Oh no! Something went wrong

Here's the .xsession-errors file. I can't really understand what in
here are just warnings and what's actually the real problem. I also
removed the $HOME/.config and $HOME/.gvfs directories too just to make
sure there wasn't something in there causing problems.

If I quickly press Alt-F4 when the error message comes up, then it
will let me into my Gnome desktop. I can't readily tell what is not
working when I do that. But when I log out and back in I still get the
Oh no! error message again.

Oh, I'm not using NetworkManager, so those errors/warnings are expected.

Thanks for any insight.

Default F16 upgrade, Gnome fails with Oh no! Something went wrong

Yes, this looks like it was an SELinux issue with regards to old ICC
color profiles left lying around, because F16 has some new SELinux
types and the old files don't get relabeled when you upgrade F15 to
F16.

To fix this, I updated F16 to the latest SELinux policy files (yum
update). However rather than disable SELinux, which should always be a
last resort especially on servers, you can then do any of:

1. Remove all files under $HOME/.local/share/icc/* and
$HOME/.color/icc/* -- in which case the next time you log in the ICC
profiles will be recreated. If you had customized ICC profiles then
this may not be what you want to do (?)

or

2. Relabel any ICC files (as root and substituting $HOME appropriately):

/sbin/restorecon -v $HOME/.local/share/icc/* $HOME/.color/icc/*

or

3. Manually change the file contexts (as root):

chcon -R -t icc_data_home_t $HOME/.local/share/icc $HOME/.color/icc

FYI, the new F16 SELinux targeted policy rules now have these two new rulesets:

/root/.color/icc(/.*)? all files
system_ubject_r:icc_data_home_t:s0
/root/.local/share/icc(/.*)? all files
system_ubject_r:icc_data_home_t:s0

Thanks for the help.
