Default libnm-settings-plugin-ifupdown.so not found

NetworkManager exits with this error message:

NetworkManager[2994]: <error> [1308515930.358516] [main.c:697] main():
failed to initialize the network manager: Could not load plugin
'ifupdown': /usr/lib/NetworkManager/libnm-settings-plugin-ifupdown.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I googled
"libnm-settings-plugin-ifupdown.so" fedora -ubuntu -debian
to filter out the debian and ubuntu hits.
I could not find any rpm packages listed to provide this lib.

Manpage says:
....Currently supported plugins are: keyfile, ifcfg-rh,
ifcfg-suse, ifupdown.
