1) did you update the fresh installation ??

2) What
is your graphic card (Intel I suspect)??

I mean immediately after fresh
installation, how did it work??

can you try to downgrade the following packages:

xorg-x11-server-Xorg
xorg-
x11-server-Xorg-common

to the DVD releases, remove the nomodeset option and
report back???
