Default Does PostgreSQL have OpenSSL compiled in?

People,

Does the standard PostgreSQL RPM (postgresql-8.4.7-1.fc14.x86_64) have
have OpenSSL compiled in?

Thanks,

Phil.

I don't think so. That would be against standard practice.

Why?

Yes, why compile it in, when you can link with the existing openssl. That way the ssl stuff gets updated in one place in case a bug is found.* This is how it is done in Fedora.

So, in other words you should be able to use SSL in postgresql if you have openssl installed.
