Default 64-bit Google Earth won't install

F14 fully updated. I tried installing the latest Google Earth 64-bit
tarball (version 6.0.0.1735) and got this:

$ sudo sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 6.0.0.1735........................................ ......................
./setup.sh: setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk2: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory

I've seen this "bad Elf interpreter" message in other contexts, but can
simply never remember what it means (something about 32-bit binary on a
64-bit system I think). Any pointers welcome.

Depending on the video card/drivers you're using, you'll need the 32 bit xorg version

And there's this:

the secret is as follows if my notes to myself are correct

To avoid "setup.data/setup.xml:1: parser error : Document is empty"

error

./GoogleEarthLinux.bin --target /tmp/ge

cd /tmp/ge/setup.data/bin/Linux/x86/

mv setup.gtk setup.gtk2

cd /tmp/ge; ./setup.sh This worked OK F14

The Url I obtained the info from

http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/earth/thread?tid=6f59e15bf811d4e2&hl=en

Both of these suggestions are gleaned from a simple search on "googleearth" on this list which is how I got it going on my 64-bit F14 boxes - and yes, it's GoogleEarth not "google earth" - just saying...

You need to install the redhat-lsb.i686 package.

Tried it, but then got this:

$ sudo sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 6.0.0.1735........................................ ......................
setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk2: error while loading shared libraries: libxml2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk: error while loading shared libraries: libSM.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The setup program seems to have failed on amd64

Fatal error, installer failed to run at all!

item two of my first response to you deals with this specific error

Perhaps, but that's not obvious, given that the error I get is
specifically with shared libraries and your earlier reply is related to
a different error: "setup.data/setup.xml:1: parser error : Document is
empty"

Thanks all the same. I'm not so interested in Google Earth as to want to
install a 32-bit Xorg just to run it.
