Can you boot the F13 dvd in rescue mode?
Sure, it will not find an installation, that's OK.
You will get a shell.

From the shell see if you can use either parted
or fdisk and see if they freeze.
If so, you might have some HD hardware or connector problem.

Already done that, and can build and save partitions, freezes when
formatting filesystems. I just successfully loaded Mandrake 8.1 a couple of
days ago, so I'm pretty sure that the hardware is ok. I'm downloading
Fedora 10 right now to see if maybe it will load.

When you boot the DVD for installing, do you let it
check the media for sanity? There might be some
bad spots on the media. It has happened to me a few times.

What kind of graphics card do you have? It might have to do with that.
I ran into the same problem with my Intel 855 chipset. This was (sorta)
fixed (more like a workaround) in the F14 beta. It just so happened to
freeze during the partitioning procedure, but had nothing to do with it.

Using an ATI Rage, AGP card. There is an install option to use different
video drivers. I'll give that a shot before I give up and try version 10.
Thanks

JD,
Yep, I saw that and gave it a try and it said there was an error, so
I cleaned the disk real good and then it was showed good. I also downloaded
the checksum file and it showed correct on all 5 install disk. I gave up
for the night to watch LSU-Florida. Try it again in the morning. Thanks all.

To save yourself the pain of inserting disc after disk,
why not download the DVD iso and burn it?
Some advice about burning data iso's:
1. Do not use media that is made for audio recording purposes.
There are media that are better suited to data.
2. when burning, set the drive speed to a low value. This
greatly reduces the likelihood of a bad burn.

Good luck,

JD

Default Fedora 13 install

Just an FYI. Apparently a 1GHz AMD Duron is not in the same class processor
as an Intel PII.( Minimum requirements for F-13 are PII w/ 384 MB of RAM) I
tried installing all of the way back to Fedora 8 with no luck. It just kept
stalling. I have successfully installed an old Mandrake 8.2 on it and it
runs great. Will be upgrading to Mandrake 10.2 tomorrow.
I just now got Fedora 10 installed on my old Dell laptop with a 750MHz PIII.
I have concluded that Fedora doesn't like some AMD processors. I'm curious
to know if anyone else has had problems with older AMD processors.
