Default boot messages : say it ain't so

Several machines have been showing lines like these :

Press 'I' to enter interactive startup.
Starting udev: udevd[405]: BUS= will be removed in a future udev version,
please use SUBSYSTEM= to match the event device, or SUBSYSTEMS= to match
a parent device, in /etc/udev/rules.d/85-pcscd_egate.rules:3

udevd[405]: SYSFS{}= will be removed in a future udev version, please use
ATTR{}= to match the event device, or ATTRS{}= to match a parent device,
in /etc/udev/rules.d/85-pcscd_egate.rules:3

udevd[405]: BUS= will be removed in a future udev version, please use
SUBSYSTEM= to match the event device, or SUBSYSTEMS= to match a parent
device, in /etc/udev/rules.d/85-pcscd_egate.rules:5

[etc., etc.]

All of that is utterly opaque to me -- so impenetrable, indeed,
that it bodes to presage another learning curve like '98 - '00, when I
had just retired.

But now I no longer have the strength nor the stamina to get
through that again. Are all we subtechnoids about to be driven forth into
the wilderness??

I think this change has been in the works for awhile, i ran into a
similar issue with my usb bus udev entry.
Personally, i dont consider myself a real guru, but this is, i think, a
simple change in semantics...

I'm not going to any wilderness!

Beartooth,

I'm getting six similar error messages when udev starts on a 32-bit
Thinkpad laptop. So far these errors appear to be benign and don't cause
any crash(es). I've been expecting to see a fix Real Soon Now (tm)...

Can we assume you're seeing these messages on systems that have been
upgraded through several versions of Fedora? If so, it may be time to
consider a clean install of the current release to clean out the cruft
(like the above) left from previous versions that were using methods
since deprecated.

I get these messages every time I boot, and my fedora 13 was a clean
install.

From the fedora Development list, this is a known issue. There are also
a number of bugzillas posted on this such as
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=587637 (This is closed as a
duplicate, but you can start here).

Chris,

This system has a from-scratch F13 installation, so I shouldn't be
seeing seeing leftover garbage from F12 & before. The two files on my
system that udev complains about on startup are:

/etc/udev/rules.d/026-microchip.rules
/etc/udev/rules.d/10-usrp.rules

The error messages say that SYSFS{}= and BUS= structures will be removed
in a future version of udev and that ATTRS{}= and SUBSSTEMS= should be
used in their place.

The udev packages I have installed are:

udev-151-10.fc13.i686
libudev-151-10.fc13.i686
system-config-printer-udev-1.2.3-3.fc13.i686
libgudev1-151-10.fc13.i686

I'm thinking this is a real, if low-grade, bug.
