Default yum dependencies: rsyslog versus syslog-ng

i recall that at least one other person was getting a yum update
error, explaining that rsyslog conflicts with syslog-ng. i haven't
noticed a posted solution, but i may have just missed it.

it seems that those two packages are equally selectable in terms of
an improvement to stock syslog. is the correct solution to just flip
a coin and remove one of them? thanks.
