I've wondered this, too(getting double posts, one directly to this list,
and another through gmane), and it's with a few different users. I
wonder whether double posts down to gmane, or the way the user's
replying/posting (using reply to all instead of just reply, etc.).

Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. I
read messages from the public lists.
