Default NVRAM and EC don't agree on brightness ??

I see I am getting the message
Jun 20 13:40:09 mary kernel: thinkpad_acpi:
CMOS NVRAM (7) and EC (6) do not agree on display brightness level
about 10 times a second in /var/log/messages
on my Fedora-9/KDE ThinkPad T43 (yum updated).

What can I do about this ?

There used to be a safety-valve so that a warning message like this
was not repeated an infinite number of times.
Has this gone?
