Default Self Introduction

Hey list,

I've been a contributor to upstream systemtap since mid 2010 and have
been a Fedora user since Fedora 12. Prior to joining Red Hat full
time, I participated in their internship program while completing a
computer engineering degree at Queens University. I'd like to become a
packager for systemtap so I can help the current maintainers with
backport/fixes and releases as needed. You can find me on #fedora-devel
and #systemtap as lberk, feel free to ping me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Lukas

Default Self Introduction

My name is Samuel Sieb. I live near Vancouver, Canada. I'm on IRC on moznet
and freenode with the nick "ssieb". I started programming around the time I
started high school, beginning with Assembler on an Apple II and working up to
higher level languages after that. :-) I've been using RedHat/Fedora since
RH5.1 and love the freedom and openness of Linux and the community around it.
I'm married and we have four boys, so my available time is somewhat limited
which has kept me from getting as involved as I would like.

I'm also one of the developers of the ChatZilla IRC client and as the current
maintainer of the package does not have time to keep it updated, I would like to
co-maintain it. However, he is not able to sponsor me and after reading the
wiki pages, I'm still not sure what the process would be for me to get involved
in this case. I'm familiar with building RPMs as I have done it many times for
creating and testing patches in various packages, but I haven't directly used
the Fedora build system. The documentations appears to be clear and useful
though. I have a FAS account and SSH key setup. I would appreciate if someone
would let me know what the next step should be or if there is any other
information you would like me to provide.

Hi,
I am a user of the Fedora(KDE) since 9 release.
Now I want to be the maintainer of kde-plasma-mail-checker
and I need a someone to complete the review.
(I have the sponsor already:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841483 )

In the future I would like to package several of my works,
which are already used by KDE users and currently stay in the
local repository of Russian Fedora community.

Joseph Marrero

Default Self Introduction

Hello
My name is Joseph Marrero from Isabela, Puerto Rico. I am a computer
Science Student, currently in last semester to finish my bachelor
degree. I have been using Linux since 2000, started in Mandrake 7.2
and ended in Red Hat Linux 7.1 where my RedHat/Fedora love affair
started. I have used Gentoo/Arch for a while and helped a little with
KDE in a local Linux distribution called VidaLinux around 2008. Using
linux made me very passionate in computers specially software.
In 2006 started working in Computer Stores and since 2010 I work as an
IT Administrator in a local GPS Tracking Company.
I migrated their Windows Server to linux. I do all computer stuffs
there from giving support to clients to setting up all the
OpenGTS/LAMP servers.

I am looking forward to do packaging for fedora specially for KDE related stuff.

This is the package I am currently working on:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=846850

All my Computer Science homework and programs can be browsed here:
https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B0IbyJGzQiLLS0dia2tiSzlKRlk/edit

have a great day

Jos de Kloe

Default self introduction

Hi everyone,

my name is Jos de Kloe, I am working for the Dutch Met. Office (KNMI) as
a scientist and doing a lot of programming work, mainly in python and
fortran.

For this reason I am interested in adding some python modules to Fedora
that can handle some fileformats commonly used in meteorology, and I
would like to volunteer to maintain them.

The main fileformats I am interested in are grib, bufr and netcdf.
To start I created spec files to build the pygrib module and its
dependency pyproj, see these links:

pygrib:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806037

pyproj:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806040

I am looking for a sponsor who would be willing to guide me in getting
this software included in Fedora.

Best regards,

Jos.

Default Self Introduction

Hello,

I am new here and just opened a review request for a new package on
the bugtracker (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851859).
The guide i followed for getting it done told me that i should
introduce myself here.

So here we go
My name is Erik Schilling. I am from Germany and working on a few
related opensource projects. I jumped between various distributions of
linux and stopped at using Fedora since a while now. At the moment I
try to create a package for the Mana Client (a client for a 2D MMORPG)
and branding packages for various games using this client.

I am still going to school, but I will finish it next year and I will
start studying computer science.

My github profile: https://github.com/ablu/.
IRC Nick: Ablu.

Since I am not a native English speaker I hope you can forgive me my
mistakes in language (and maybe correct me).

Best regards

Default Self Introduction

Greetings,

I started in Linux way back in the SLS (soft landing systems) days, then moved
to Slackware. I friend then had me try out RedHat Linux 4.0, I loved the
modularity of the way RH did packages and have been on RedHat based since.

Started rolling packages in RH 5.0 through 6.2, into RH7.3 up to RHEL,Centos
currently. And once I started using Kickstart in the RHL5 series I've been
hooked on it.

My introduction to Fedora itself was with fc1 as my desktop OS. These days
EPEL has been my primary end-user tie to Fedora.

I have development experience in C,C++,perl as well as some rusty experience
in others like PHP,Java.

I'm big into infrastructure, network and systems deployment and automation
these days, so that is where a lot of my focus goes at the moment.

I'm on freenode IRC as strobert.

Default Self Introduction

Hey,

My name is Sebastian Dyroff. I am from Germany, Berlin. I've just
finished my studies of computer science.

I am a Linux user for a decade or so and tried a lot of different
Distros. For a long time I used gentoo (don't know if it is a good idea
to tell here:-) ), but switched to Fedora a while ago.

I really would like to see wiki2beamer (Bug 851891) included in fedora,
an thought i should try to build a rpm for the package. It converts
wiki-like syntax to latex beamer syntax and is written in python.
Currently I need to get some feedback, to get the spec-file meet the
fedora standards.

I also built a rpm for lprof (Bug 851641), a colour management profiler,
but upstream seems dead and there are some problems that might prevent
that the package will be part of Fedora. But if someone wants that
package included and is willing to help me fixing the issues or at least
points me in the right direction I would continue to work on this.

Best regards

Sebastian Dyroff

Hi,

I'm a Perl developer / sys-admin working for the PacketFence[1] open
source project which has strong RHEL roots.

A few months ago I've switched to Fedora as my desktop and I'm trying
to upstream some of our own packages to improve their quality and so
that everyone can benefit from having easy access to them.

I have one package looking for a sponsor:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851721

Also I plan on updating the asciidoc package and do whatever is in my
way to ease PacketFence's integration into Fedora and RHEL with the
ultimate goal of `yum install packetfence`.

Finally I'm also a spare time FLOSS android developer working on
Tomdroid[2] and several other little perl projects[3] plus a father of
two.

Cheers!
