Default Self Introduction

As per the encouragement on the wiki, just wanted to throw out a
greeting. I've been a Linux user for a bit over 10 years now, bouncing
between Fedora and Ubuntu depending on the application. The recent
addition of the MinGW toolkit into Fedora 17 has brought me back, as I
had been trying to leverage that into Ubuntu on my own. So, here I am
to hopefully join in the effort with the Fedora MinGW team.

I've just finished submitting a bug fix for the mingw-icu packages as
well as a new mingw-clucene package (here
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=825557) that are necessary
for some of the MinGW building that I want to do with Fedora.
Hopefully others will find them useful as well.

Hi Greg,

Welcome aboard the Fedora train!
The Fedora MinGW SIG is always looking for people to help maintaining
packages in Fedora. You've already found out our IRC channel and are
hanging out there often which is very good. If you've got any questions,
feel free to ask them

Kind regards,

Erik van Pienbroek

A hearty welcome, Greg! That reminds me, having reviewed some of the
initial MinGW packages, I probably should join the SIG as well, now that
I'm in a country where desktop Linux adoption is still rather minimal...

Thank you!
I dream of a simple way to install the last tomcat on the last
Fedora/RHEL/CentOS.

Something like
- adding a special repository (http://goo.gl/drZM3)
- issuing "yum install tomcat7"
- it's installed.

Installing Java related things is quite complicated.
Maybe you'll bring something to this, by you seniority ;-)

Anyway, welcome and have fun!

My name is Charles Amey. I have a bachelor's degree in computer
science. I've been running linux since around 2001, and I got my RHCT
in 2005. I've got a couple other little projects on github,
https://github.com/kc8hfi. scratchpad is the rewrite of my senior
project. Looking back at the code years later, the code was bad and I
decided to rewrite it. The powerwheels one is a collection of
documents and code that a group of us put together in making a power
wheels truck radio controlled. There are some videos of the truck on
youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ypF5SA9RIY and

I hang out in the #fedora and #fedora channels on freenode.

Default Self introduction

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself as a hopefully new packager for Fedora.

My current residence is in the Netherlands, where I'm studying for my
Bachelors degree for Computer Science at the Radboud University
Nijmegen.
I have been running Red Hat Linux since version 9, and am now running Fedora 17.

Currently, I am packaging the compiler for the Clean programming
language, which is designed and implemented by the Radboud University,
for which my package review request has been submitted
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=834069), and I plan on
building and packaging more libraries for Clean.

My GPG Key ID is 9AB51E50.

With kind regards,
Patrick Uiterwijk

Default Self Introduction

Hello,

I chose Fedora for my new Thinkpad T420s, used Arch Linux on my old Acer.

I'm actively developing in Ada and already packaged a few libraries and
applications for Arch, see
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=oenone

After fixing two bugs in gprbuild (bug report here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=834425), my package for GPS
(an Ada IDE) now builds fine. I already submitted a review request:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=834747 - without the fixes
for gprbuild you might see a few rpaths left.

I will continue to package Ada libraries that I would like to see on Fedora.

I studied computer science in Germany and work as software engineer.

My GPG Key ID is 04BDB855 and my IRC nick is oenone, regularly seen on
FreeNode in #Ada.

Regards,
Julian Leyh

Hi Julian, and welcome! We can certainly need another Ada packager. It will be
great to have GPS in Fedora, but it's brave of you to do that as your first
Fedora package. I haven't dared to tackle GPS myself yet.

Default Self introduction

Hi to all,
my name is Robert Mayr, alias robyduck [1], and I'm a Fedora user
since the Core 1b release. Before that I used Redhat 7.3, but only
sporadically.
In January 2005 I founded the Italian Fedora community Fedora Online
[2] and I'm actually also in the websites group and gitmuffin.
I'm living near Milan since 2010, before I spent most time of my life
in Bolzano (South Tyrol). I have 2 daughters and the third child (a
son this time!) is coming within the next 10 days.
It would be nice to contribute to the package maintainers team, I'm in
contact with other italian members of the package-group and have just
created my first package:
You can find it as Bug 838362 [3], I'm searching for a sponsor now and
hope someone could help me to learn quickly all the skills, which I
know only learned through the wiki documents.

Cheers
