Thanks, Rahul. Yes, thank you for that link. I had read it, as well as
any of the other new packager guidelines I could find. I've
registered a Fedora account (stevej), set up Koji, and was able to
successfully build my OpenDKIM (http://opendkim.org/) SRPM against
most of the current targets. Having never used Koji before, I have to
say it's pretty cool!

Thanks. If you know of anyone looking to sponsor an eager n00b, please
send them my way. I've already checked the list of package sponsors
and didn't see any names I recognized, so maybe I'll start hanging out
in the IRC channel.

Did you already perform reviews as mentioned here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_get_sponsored_into_the_packager_group#Revie wing_packages

Doing this and mentioning it in the review ticket usually helps to find
a sponsor.

Default Self Introduction

Hey all,
my name is Jaroslav I live in Slovakia (central europe) and I am the upstream author of ipwatchd - daemon that detects IP conflicts in Linux.
I maintain ipwatchd packages in Debian and I've received few request from Fedora users that they would like to see it packaged as RPM.

So here I am willing to create the package and maintain it thereafter.

Package review request:https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=726989

Thanks for any feedback

Steve Gordon

Default Self Introduction

Hi all,

My name is Steve Gordon, I'm a content author by day but I also have previous experience as a developer (primarily Java and...COBOL...). My current interests are primarily in virtualization and cloud software. I already have a FAS account through my membership of the documentation group but I'm introducing myself to the devel group because I want to package aqemu (http://sourceforge.net/projects/aqemu/) for Fedora!

I have some prior experience packaging software for my own use/re-use but this is the first time I've submitted anything in the hope of ultimately getting formal inclusion into a distribution.

For what it's worth my package review request is:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=734275

Thanks all!

Default Self Introduction

Ladies and Gentleman:

Seemingly this is the first "Self Introduction" this month. I am working on a
new unison package. I already filed a review request some days ago:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=734531

I'm a gentle German student and loyal Linux user for several years. But I
never worked in (rpm) packaging before, so please don't be harsh :-)
Mainly I am using KDE SC, possibly I want to help on some KDE stuff, too.

Hopefully soon I will get a sponsor and become an active member in the
community.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi,

I would like to introduce myself as a potential new package maintainer.

I'm currently working at Nikhef in the Netherlands, the national
institute for subatomic physics. The group I'm working in has been
involved with grid computing since around 2000-2001, through a series of
European funded projects. We work close together with the developers of
the Globus Toolkit as well as VOMS (both are in Fedora), and recently
we've been thinking it would be a good idea to try and include our grid
security middleware in the main distribution as well. I've just filed my
first review request[1] and more will follow if this goes well. All in
all this is about a dozen or so packages.

1. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736717

So this is my very, very short intro (hope it's not too long).

Cheers,

Dennis van Dok

Hi all,

I've recently joined Red Hat's OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice team, so I'll
probably want to get my hands dirty with the corresponding Fedora
packages in the future.

My background: I've been a core member of OpenOffice.org development
for 14 years. I'm mostly taking care of the lower code layers, and have
also been deeply involved in areas like building, testing, and packaging
the code. (So its hopefully not all Greek to me here...)

Hi,

Introducing myself as a prospective new package maintainer for Fedora.

I recently filed a review request:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=743615

I'm the author of a few Nagios plugins, one of which has become widely
used. The review above is for this plugin, check_openmanage. I believe
it will be a useful addition to Fedora. Target branches are EPEL5, EPEL6
and the current Fedora releases.

I work as a system administrator at the University of Oslo, Norway,
managing Linux servers and clients. I have been a Linux user for many
years. My first distro was Red Hat 4.1, then I briefly tried Slackware
for a while before returning to Red Hat. I have been a faithful
Fedora/RH user ever since, Fedora personally and RHEL professionally.

SRPM and spec file for the package are here:

http://folk.uio.no/trondham/review/

Thanks - I'm looking forward to joining the community and helping out.

Regards,

Default Self Introduction

Hello all,

Just going through the process noted at the wiki for becoming a package maintainer[1], so here I am introducing myself.

A bit about me: Red Hatter, Open Source Java guy, so far have done much more lurking than participating at least wrt Fedora.

I am for now mainly taking on the new package of mongo-java-driver, to scratch my own itch. In fact, I just now posted the review bug for that[2]. But I hope to have time to help with other Java-related things that need doing around here. Also, I've been tracking the development of Project Jigsaw[3], so when that starts to make its way from prototype to JSR to being a part of the JDK I hope to be useful in making all that stuff play nice in Fedora.

I guess that is all for now...

cheers,
jon
