Default Xorg very, very hungry...

Hi,

when I activated compiz on my new R61 I was amazed how good it worked.

But today I found that with top:

24420 root 20 0 672m 337m 9648 S 6.6 17.0 5:54.02 Xorg

Is that normal?

regards

It probably has lots of pixmaps loaded on behalf of the apps you are
running. Use xrestop to monitor it

That depends. Clients often ask X to cache bitmaps for them, and
they can be huge.
