I installed F8 to my notebook - everything is fine. But, after updating
to the most recent 2.6.24 kernel (fedora updates), the notebook is
unable to boot.

As it boots and says you can hit a key do so.
At the grub prompt boot the old kernel. Then file a bug including details
on your system. The trace below looks like something broke the irq routing
(would this be an IBM T series laptop ???)

What details do you need? Like lscpi or so? Shall I attach a screen shot
(jpeg) from the failing boot?
I am not sure, how to save the boot trace from the failing kernel to
attach it to the bug report.

No. It is an Asus, sold as Z83Kseries. It's the A7K version.
