Website redesign fixes

Hi everyone,

As you probably know, the new Fedora website is being finished right now.

Now we want to check everything and make sure it's all in tip top
shape and ready to be released. I've started a page[1] where we can
document all the little fixes that still need to be done. Think CSS
fixes, missing images, missing links, stuff like that.

If you've got some time, please go over the pages on
http://stg.fedoraproject.org/ and check them for any
mistakes/errors/bugz. If you find any, post 'em on the page. :)

Hop over to #fedora-websites if you've got any questions.

Jef

It's probably not bug in the page itself, but rather something there
triggers bug in webkitgtk in F14:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=643300

It would probably help if someone with knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS design
and this page helped to create a minimal test case which could trigger
this.

It would be rather embarrassing if some of the browsers we ship
(epiphany and midori at the very least are using webkitgtk) would crash
when trying to load our very front webpage...

Note that both QTWebKit (arora) and KHTML (IIRC konqueror) are fine.

CC-ing webkit list as well (and I apologize for cross-posting, but it
looks to me like all the three parties I sent this to are interested in
this).

Thanks,
Martin

Hello,

The new website is very very good! I can't wait for the launch!

Would it be possible to add these on the get-fedora-all page[1]?

- Locate an event near you where you could get yourself a copy of Fedora
(links to the Fedora Events page)

- Find a Fedora Project Community Member nearby and request them to burn
Fedora for you (links to the Ambassadors page)

Hello again

The page here[1] has the entire FWN on it under "latest announcements".
It's making the page pretty long (just one column). Can "latest
announcements" be done in another way to avoid this?

Hi,

The page already has a link to the FreeMedia wiki page[1], so I'm not
sure that's necessary. I guess it's also obvious that you can get a
Fedora copy at events, which are listed on the Community page, and
anybody can get in touch with their local Fedora community through the
FedoraCommunity.org website[2].

In short I personally don't think it's necessary, what do others think
about this?

Yep, that doesn't look like it's supposed to. :)

Thanks for reporting it, I added it to the wiki page, though sadly I
have no idea how to fix this myself.

Yes, you're right. It was added on the wiki page already, but there
are many missing icons on the Features page, we'll fix that. :)

Thanks,

Jef

Hello Jef,

We've been trying to clarify the definition/purpose of the Free media
program. The Free media program is for those who cannot obtain Fedora by
*any* other means. These other means include via events and ambassadors
etc.

The current wording implies that anyone who cannot download or buy the
media should refer to the Free media program, which is not the case.

Inclusion of the links, (refer my earlier mail) would tell folks "hey!
can't download or buy Fedora? Look at nearby events or ambassadors
first! Still can't get it? Look at free media!"

That sounds fair, I'll discuss it on the channel and see what I can do.
