Default F11 wallpaper mockup proposal

This is a very simple mockup for F11 wallpaper (day/night version):

http://pleoni.altervista.org/f11-wallpaper-day_mockup.jpg
http://pleoni.altervista.org/f11-wallpaper-night_mockup.jpg

It's a simple modification of the "world chart" posted on the wiki.

It could be usable?
issue #1: the day version is too enlighted for the desktop.
issue #2: how to get blue on this wallpaper?

I've imagined that the desktop is "on" a ship...
This is only a simple "not rational" idea...so if it's not able to be used, it can be quietly trashed...

What about turning it into a blueprint?

Just decrease the saturation and it may be better. I found the night
version a bit too dark.

I struggled with the same problem when trying a "steampunk" concept for
10 (quite a lot similar with this map).

Hello Folks,

I am sure most of us have faced this - I've a bunch of machines (with
broken ACPI?) - they run away and go to sleep at times.
hangcheck_timer etc. does not help. my bios has no ASR either - I now
need to figure out a poor man's way to power reset if they
(icmp/service) fail.

yea i know, there are fancy pdu's with ssh/telnet/snmp access which
can do this. but $$ is hard -

if nothing, i can improvise, and make a nearby cdrom tray eject with
an eject -t, with a paper clip extending from it, to reset a sensitive
electric switch to reset a certain barfed neighbour host. but it is
kind of hard to align all that precisely well in all my locations.

any suggestion would be much appreciated.

That's the idea, but try a different type of blue, more like
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=blueprint

PS: and watch that nasty HTML email, as it allows you to insert bad links.

Duh! Sometime I should use more words... I think is preferable to have a
more desaturated look, this is supposed to be *old paper*, with the
colors washed-down (desaturated).

Yes, this is more like a blueprint is supposed to look. Not sure how
good it is from an usability point of view (for me the white is a bit
too bright, but that's me).

Sorry for the lecture...

There are two kind of CC licenses: Free ones (good) and non-Free (bad).
You used "Noncommercial", which is non-Free, read more about acceptable
licenses here:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Licensing#Content_Licenses

And you based your work on an original licensed as CC-BY (Attribution),
so in the dA post you should have mentioned something along the lines
of: based on a design by Norman B. Leventhal
(http://flickr.com/photos/normanbleventhalmapcenter/2709980753/)

I think the problem is that the lines are a bit too diffuse. A bit of
fiddling with the curves should fix that.

Hi Paolo,

Is it just me? I can't view any of your image links. They redirect to "http://im.altervista.org/void.gif" which is blank.

Can you upload them to the wiki?
