It probably will and has been suggested. Hibernate is poorly supported
by upstream and has no maintainer. It has data corruption bugs (one of
which I ran into quite recently). So for data safety, it is better to
never use it.

I vote for using Genesis albums and/or song names. For instance, how
about "Fedora 18: Land of Confusion" (suppose a radical Gnome 4.0
comes along ;-P). Or "Fedora 19: I can't dance". Fedora 20: Invisible
Touch

:-P

No, really, why waste any serious time on this, at all?
Just choose a scheme and stick to it. Cities, animals, whatever.

Absolutely, but stick to it. Though great names or things (perhaps only
deceased) would be a good one.

For instance, Higgs being alive, we could use "Boson" -- bet that would
be unique in software land....

Over twenty years ago, some SF fans started a new convention, media
oriented with a strong bias toward Dr. Who. They named it Gallifrey.
As many new conventions do, Gallifrey One went deeply into debt, and the
organizers swore that there'd never be a Gallifrey Two until the debt
was paid off.

Next year was Gallifrey One, The Sequel. This was followed by Gallifrey
One in 3-D, Gallifrey One Goes Fourth and so on. Gallifrey One is now
old enough to vote. (Yes, the debt was paid off long ago.) I mention
this to show how easy it can be to be clever when you're naming things.
BTW, the complete list is in the Wikipedia article if you're either
interested or want to see how many of the references you can catch.

There's a difference between piquing interest, and setting yourself up
for ridicule. Spherical cow sounds amusing, beefy miracle sounds
disturbing. All publicity is NOT good publicity.

Not sure what this has to do with naming Fedora releases,
but I very much hope that hibernate is not removed,
as I use it all the time without problem,
and find it extremely useful.

As far as I can see, the suggestion not to support hibernation
has more or less been dropped:
<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781749>
Contrary to the statement that hibernate is poorly supported,
there seem to have been a large number of people working on the problem,
and there are several claims that it has been resolved.

Also, as far as I can see the only cases of data corruption reported
involved the i915 module,
so it would seem more logical just to warn users of that module
not to hibernate (if the problem has not been resolved, as I believe it
has).

Absolutely. It is extremely useful, and removing it makes us look
pretty stupid when it is manifestly something that Microsoft et al
can do.

On the other hand, "Porky Goodness" would be a great name for something.
Maybe a band, though, and not a Fedora distribution.
