Default multiple path disk

Hi buddy!
* I am a linux programmer , met a problem about multiple path disk. Please give me a hand. My problem is : Is there a way to determine whether a disk(eg. /dev/sda) is a ghost disk or not using c/c++ in linux. Thanks a lot!.
