They look nice.
But how would it look when you cut out the lock item in the wall?
Also the red can use a bit of color variations. I would go for orange btw..

Yeah, I have the same feeling, that was why I was trying to make the red
darker, however making it even darker than in the posted sketches didn't
seem to work :-/ Maybe orange colour would be indeed better.

I don't understand what you mean by that. Perhaps something like
sculpturing or carving? (please forgive my English here, I am not at all
sure about the right words to use there).

Yeah, you're the second person actually suggesting that (IIRC), so I
gave it a try. And IMHO it really looks better than red and is easier on
eyes. See the attachment.

PS: the orange wall is the first one I don't have a feeling that
something is not right with it when I look at it :-D

Hm... interesting idea.

darker, however making it even darker than in the posted sketches didn't

I have an idea. How about instead of having a gradient from say black to
the red, try a transparent dark green => clear alpha gradient on top of
the red? I don't know if that works in on-screen artwork but the way you
do shadows in painting is to add the complementary color to the main
color to darken it rather than just add black.
Or, what might result in the same effect, is make the red a gradient
from a darker/desaturated red to a brighter more saturated red. If you
limit the total area covered by the super bright red the icon might be a
little less harsh on the eyes but the splash of bright color will still
preserve the echo bright color palette.

Yeah i meant carving it out.
And for the english.. i am not at all sure about those ones as well.
About your new icon. That looks a lot better then everything else in
this thread.
Good job so far.

From what you suggest it seems same like trying gradient from brown to
red, however, the reason that I didn't liked even darker version was
that it was simply too dark, out of place the other icons.

That was precisely what I tried when I attempted making it darker.
Anyway, I've finished other sizes for the orange version, I attach the
PNGs, sources can be find at the usual place [1].
Thanks,
Martin
