Default firewall time_wait jump after ssl security update

Using apt-get I installed some security patches last week.
Inst libssl0.9.8 [0.9.8o-4squeeze11] (0.9.8o-4squeeze12 Debian-Security:6.0/stable [i386])
Inst openssl [0.9.8o-4squeeze11] (0.9.8o-4squeeze12 Debian-Security:6.0/stable [i386])

After installing these two updates I suddenly have a big jump in the TIME_WAIT in my munin firewall graphs. See https://intranet.tio.nl/Documenten/helpdesk/temp/fw_conntrack-week-linein.png

Any idea what is going on and what I need to look at?
