Default LVM vs 3TB disk

Hello all,

Does anyone know why LVM doesn't see the whole space of a 3TB disk? It only sees
2.7TB, as you can see below.

This is on Debian 6.

root@axilleas:/# parted /dev/sdc print
Model: ATA WDC WD30EZRX-00M (scsi)
Disk /dev/sdc: 3001GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/4096B
Partition Table: gpt

Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 1049kB 3001GB 3001GB primary

root@axilleas:/# pvdisplay
--- Physical volume ---
PV Name /dev/md7
VG Name laerths
PV Size 2.65 TiB / not usable 2.79 MiB
Allocatable yes
PE Size 4.00 MiB
Total PE 694272
Free PE 10384
Allocated PE 683888
PV UUID Wg9a8g-AbxF-IoVW-BFhI-slqD-NyTw-BXgEBj

root@axilleas:/# pvcreate /dev/sdc1
Physical volume "/dev/sdc1" successfully created
root@axilleas:/# pvdisplay
--- Physical volume ---
PV Name /dev/md7
VG Name laerths
PV Size 2.65 TiB / not usable 2.79 MiB

Free PE 10384
Allocated PE 683888
PV UUID Wg9a8g-AbxF-IoVW-BFhI-slqD-NyTw-BXgEBj

"/dev/sdc1" is a new physical volume of "2.73 TiB"
--- NEW Physical volume ---
PV Name /dev/sdc1

PV Size 2.73 TiB <<<<<<<<<<<<
Allocatable NO
PE Size 0

Thanks,
Pavlos

Is this because the manufacturers use powers of 1000 instead of 1024?

3*1000^4 / 1024^4 = ~2.73
